My Story Begin
I'm not traditional writer, being dyslexic things like this are not easy. My work examines trauma, identity, queerness, and the long-term effects of emotional abuse and systemic failure. From Hurt to Whole is my debut memoir—an unflinching account of survival, self-examination, and rebuilding on my own termsThis is not a story about neatly overcoming trauma. It is about meeting it directly and living with its consequences.
From Hurt to Whole explores growing up queer in environments that misunderstood or punished difference—at home, at school, and within systems meant to offer support. It addresses emotional abuse, bullying, and the learned discipline of silence, alongside the lasting impact of being labelled rather than understood.
With clarity and control, Chilcott examines how early experiences shape identity and adulthood, how vigilance becomes habitual, and how healing lies not in erasing the past but in reclaiming authorship of the self. What began as journalling to better understand his present life became a deliberate act of remembering, reaching back to his earliest memories at five or six years old.
Direct, unsentimental, and deeply human, this book speaks to readers who endured difficult beginnings and chose to shape what came next.
